Painted towel bars rust from the inside, starting at the screw holes, usually within a year of living in a steamy room. 304 stainless does not — it is the same grade used for kitchen sinks.
Mounts on the wall with the fixings included, and holds a full bath sheet spread flat rather than bunched. A towel only dries if air can reach both sides of it.
